Get Your Year Off to a Great Start

As personal growth and development coaches, we see a marked increase in queries at the beginning of the year. The start of a new year is a natural occasion to take a good look at your life, decide where you want to be, and plan how you are you going to get there.

The best time for new beginnings is NOW!”

The truth is that every day offers the opportunity to evaluate the path you are on. If January passed you by in a blur of good intentions, use the beginning of February to re-start your year on the right track.

You Are Enough

One common misconception associated with setting goals for the year ahead is that it implies you are currently lacking something – not thin enough/ rich enough/ productive enough/ [insert your desire here] enough!

A universal truth is that what you focus on is what manifests itself to you. Not convinced? People Dynamics’ founder drives a silver Hyundai H1. Now that you’ve read that, you will see nothing but silver Hyundai H1s on the road.

So it follows that if you concentrate on what you don’t have – and that only when you fix that will you be worthy/ happy/ successful – you are operating from a place of lack. When in fact, you want to be working from a place of abundance.

Repeat the following sentence out loud over and over again until it feels true:
I am enough as I am.”

Abundance Abounds

Now that you (hopefully) believe that you are an awesome and worthy individual, you can set your goals for 2020 from a place of prosperity, knowing that there is plenty to go around.

“Live life as if everything is rigged in your favour.” Rumi

By focusing on all that you already have, you become more aware of the real wealth surrounding you – from the goals you have achieved in the past to the infinite opportunities ahead of you. The universe is truly generous – just look to the innumerable stars in the night-sky or the countless grains of sand on beaches.

As you set out your goals, mix them up with “fake goals” of things you already have to increase the positive energy surrounding your list, e.g. “I want to be married and have two children; and I want to get that promotion.”

Let the positive energy and abundant mindset help your self-motivation, and enjoy the magic that unfolds in your life.
